Today’s Topic :
Today’s newsletter is about writing catchy headlines - that can get you attention and clicks. I have included examples to make it easy to understand.
Let’s begin.
Read Time : 2.5 minutes
The word “Clickbait” has a bad reputation.
A lot of people think it’s a cheap way to get attention.
Maybe it is - to an extent.
But the truth is - It doesn’t matter how good the information you provide in your article or video, if you people don’t click - they are not going to watch it.
Getting people hooked to your headline or title while they are scrolling through on social media is challenging.
I would argue that the hook is more important than the article (specially on social media)
If you study good hooks, you can definitely find a pattern or a formula for writing good hooks.
Here’s a list
7 Tips To Write Great Headlines :
Tip 01 - Be Specific
Try to use numbers or data in your headline to make it more targeted and specific.
Research shows that headlines with numbers generate more reader engagement, since they are quick and easy to read.
Example:
Bad: "Get More Website Traffic"

Tip 02 - Ask a question
Use a question in your headline to engage with your readers.
Asking a question can make your readers think and can create a sense of curiosity to explore more, pushing them to read the whole content.
Example:
Bad: "Maximize Your Sales Potential"

Tip 03 - Solve a problem
Your headline should provide a solution to the reader's problem.
Address a common problem or concern in your headline and show how your solution can help them.
This approach can be very effective because it immediately captures the reader's attention and shows them that your content has value.
Example:
Bad: "Healthy Eating Tips"
Good: "Say Goodbye to Unhealthy Snacking Habits with These 5 Simple Diet Swaps."
Tip 04 - Use Emotion
Your Headlines should connect with your reader’s.
The words or phrases in your headline should generate emotion such as fear, excitement, or curiosity.
This can help to make your headline more compelling and memorable.
Example:
Bad: "The Benefits of Exercise"
Good: "Transform Your Body and Life with These Simple Exercise Hacks"
Tip 05 - Keep it short and concise
Use concise language to make your headline easy to read and understand.
Avoid using too many words or jargon that may confuse your audience.
Example:
Bad: "Do you want to know 10 search engine optimization tips to rank on search engine result page?"
Good: "10 SEO Tips to Rank Higher on Google"
Tip 06 - Create Urgency
If you want to make your audience act now, use urgent language in your headline.
This technique can make your audience feel like they are missing out on something valuable if they don't act quickly.
Words like "now," "limited time," and "don't miss out" can create a sense of urgency and encourage readers to take action immediately.
Example:
Bad: "Sale Going On Now"
Good: "Don't Miss Out on Our Exclusive Sale - Ends Tonight!"
Tip 07 - Use strong action verbs
Use powerful action words in your headline that grabs reader’s attention and which is impactful as well as compelling.
These words convey a sense of urgency, excitement, and motivation, and can help readers to take action.
